Restaurant and/or bar recommendations near Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay?

We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay for a couple of days next week before we leave with a group of friends on Delbert McClinton's Sandy Beaches Cruise.

We would love to find out about a great place to get together for drinks and eats that would be walking distance to our hotel, or a short cab ride away.

Thanks for any input!

Ybor City is a short cab ride from the Grand Hyatt. The Columbia is one of Florida's best Cuban restaurants. One side of the restaurant is an historic bar that is a fine destination.

The restaurants at your hotel are nice, but a mile away is a favorite on the water -

The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay has two locally well known restaurants - Armanis and Oyster Catchers. Rusty Pelican is a good choice. Other restaurants a very short taxi ride away include Landrys, Crabby Bill's, Whiskey Joe's and Bahama Breeze. The new and nearby Westin has Aquaknox. Keep in mind that the new traffic patterns in the area might mean that leaving the property requires a taxi ride.

Aquaknox is a perfect place for drinks and food with a group of people! The dining room is very attractive, the service is excellent, as are the drinks, and the food is good. (It's a bit upscale.)

Btw, and meaning no offense to other posters, I would stay far away from Crabby Bill's and Landry's--palaces of frozen food, not good at all, IMO.
Also, Ybor City is not a short cab ride away, but the Columbia may well be worth it. On your way there or back, consider stopping at Fly, which is a great bar downtown.
