Restaurant advice needed
 

First time in Seattle for family of 4 including two older teenage boys. Looking for a 'special' place to eat for our last night. We're staying at the Hotel Andra so would like somewhere within walking distance. Looking for a great place that won't break our bank account but that would be memorable for us.

Assagio and Lola are both downstairs. Dahlia Lounge is across the street. Ruth's Chris and Morton's are nearby and so are P.F. Chang's and The Cheesecake Factory. There are many other options. Does your family favor a particular kind of food?

Our local friends took us to Dahlia's Lounge on a recent trip for a special treat. We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Not too formal, but upscale feel and very nice.

Also close by and good food with tons of people is the Palace Kitchen.

I think of Douglas' restaurants, Etta's would be best for your boys. My boys have been to all of them and they like Etta's. They are particularly found of seafood. I think Dahlia is great, but perhaps a bit too subdued an atmosphere. My boys like Palace, but prefer the seafood menu at Ettas.

Don't overlook Flying Fish which has a younger feel for your boys than Dahlia Lounge. If you're into good wines, Flying Fish also has a wonderful wine list with really fairly priced wines and tons of selections by the glass.

Don't get me wrong. Dahlia Lounge is perhaps a better restaurant food wise, but I'd think Flying Fish would have more buzz and be more impressive to the teens, certainly with a younger crowd on the average.

We also enjoyed a nice meal at Flying Fish while in Seattle. Great crabcakes here and the espresso creme brulee was perfectly prepared. ***kim*** ((f))

Well, the food isn't all that great, but for kids a meal in the revolving resturant on the Space Needle can't be beat. I took my daughters there when they were 9 and 12 (eight years ago), and they still talk about it. It took me awhile to convince them that the resturant was really moving.

You can get good food anywhere, but you can't get a 360 degree ride many places.
