Resort La Playa, Naples Grande?

Hi everyone,
I am looking at La Playa, Naples Grande or The Ritz. We've stayed at the Ritz which is nice but were looking at the others since they appear to be very nice as well. We have teens so pool and golf are important. Any thoughts or preference. It's a quick stay, three nights. We just want to relax.

Thank you!

I think that's a tough one. Both are very nice. I'm not clear what either property does for golf though.

I have found the bar and restaurant at LaPlaya to be a little too precious for its own good. We recently stopped in the late afternoon for a cocktail. Sorry, but $19 for a non call brand highball and $15 for a glass of $7.99 a bottle house wine is absurd -- especially when we gave up on anyone coming out to the terrace to wait on us, so we went inside to get them ourselves. But that may have been an isolated event.

Patrick:

Hope you see this. Do you have a recommendation for a Naples/Bonita realtor? I have seen a couple of places that may be of interest. Condos in bundled golf communities like Vasari, Heritage Bay, Vineyards, etc.

Thanks in advance...

NeoPatrick, thank you for letting me know you had a less than stellar visit. I was looking at it mostly because it's on the beach and has a nice looking pool. I am sure eating/dining is very pricey. I also saw Naples Bay Resort. Marina wouldn't be too bad. Golf will be nearby I'm sure.

I have not stayed at the Naples Grand nor The Ritz, but know the areas well. My choice is the LaPlaya Hotel where I have eaten several times. They advertise a golf course but not sure where it is as there is no golf course in the area of the LaPlaya Hotel. The LaPlaya Hotel has more of a Floridian atmosphere.

Scotia, thank you for your reply, this is helpful!

Weekender, my favorite, a good friend, and a top Naples realtor -- but don't be threatened that he's with a top agency and has sold homes up to $42 million. He also handles standard condos as well, and when I listed a rental condo I had owned since 1982 last year with him, he sold it within a week. He's very knowledgeable about all areas of Naples -- Bonita, I'm not so sure.

Oh, now I remember where LaPlaya's golf is. It's on Immokalee Road -- not too far. They have an agreement with a golf club there, but I've never heard much "great" about that course. Still, their golf IS closer than the Ritz's golf course -- but I think that's a far better course.

Naples Bay Marina is a nice and fairly new complex, but there's a lot of difference between it and any beach resort -- I guess it depends on what you want. It's really more like a cluster of condos, semi hotel like, in more of a commercial area.

I'd actually recommend the old, but constantly remodeled Naples Beach Club, but last I knew they are totally redoing their adjacent golf course, so not sure what the golf situation is there right now. And it's right by downtown for many more dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Patrick:

Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate it.

I am somewhat familiar with Naples as my family owned a place on GSB N. but that was a number of years ago.

NeoPatrick, thank you for the suggestion of the Naples Beach Club. You are right about being on the beach vs. the condo/townehome type thing. The golf isn't vital but if a course is near, they'll go. I looked at the Bonita Springs Hyatt and that seems like a good place too...I still have some time to think! Thank you!

We spend one night at Hyatt Coconut Resort a couple months ago ( had a free night about to expire and seasonal renters wire in my townhouse). It was delightful, but be aware it's not on or even near an actual beach if that's an issue. And after surveying the restaurants we went offsite to eat dinner.

Oh, that is good to know, thank you NeoPatrick!
