Resort in N. Wis?
Can anyone recommend a nice resort in northern Wisconin that rents cottages? On a lake that's good for fishing and swimming? That's not run-down. Older, but updated and well-kept up. In the range of $800-1000 a week. We'd even consider a large place that sleeps 8 or 12 (for more money, of course?)

Hi Sue,
There is a resort in Rhinelander called Holiday Acres. I have stayed there and it is nice. It is clean and the staff is great. It is on Lake Thompson, which has excellent fishing. On the resort there is about 20 cottages in various sizes, a great restuarant, a bar, an indoor swimming pool, and a nice giftshop. There are also miles and miles of hiking trails. The website for this resort is www.holidayacres.com. Check it out. Kathy |
Sue,
I am confused....you recently posted about your trip to Minocqua. Are you looking for something different? Did not get a chance to look around? Going again? No offense, just seems odd. |
Boy, I feel like I'm being policed! Yes, we did just get back and I'm already checking for next year, esp. since you often have to reserve by 1/1 to get a place. We weren't really happy with the resort we stayed at (beautiful grounds, but lake was busy, fishing not good, cottages sort of run down and a proprietor from hell!). Next time I find a place from the web or brochures, I'll only consider those that show interior photos of the cottages. I thought it would be better than it was, given the price range. We didn't really check out other places while there.

Hi-
The Minocqua area is full of great resorts. More shopping and evening things to do in the Minocqua area than in the Rhinelander area (but the lakes and resorts there are nice too). check out www.minocquaarearesorts.com. i would recommend Dillman's, it has been around for years and a great spot www.dillmans.com. Good luck! |
aquaholic, you responded to a post that is from 2004!
