How far is the drive from Captiva Island and Sanibel Island to Delray Beach...what other area near DB has a family resort besides West Palm or Boca. We are flying into West Palm and will be driving from DB to a resort for a few days (we have a 2 year old with us)...help, I need to book this now and can't decide where to go.

Figure an absolute minimum of 3 hours, but if in "season" between now and about May, it could easily be 4, particularly for the part from the interstate in Ft. Myers out to Sanibel/Captiva.

I am not exactly sure what type of resort you are looking for (ie how luxurious), Club Med Sandpiper might work for you, especially with a 2 year old; they have a Baby Club there. It is in Port St. Lucie.

I have narrowed down my search to Boca Raton Beach Resort and Harbor Beach Resort and Spa in Ft. Lauderdale. Any opinions on which is better with a 2 year old. We would be in the Yacht Club Waterway at Boca Raton and and Ocean Front at Harbor Beach. I prefer to be walking distance to everything.

We haven't stayed at Harbor beach but have stayed many times at the Boca resort. The yacht club rooms are very nice and right on the intracoastal so the views are very pretty. You would be right in the center of the resort, close the pool and in the main part of the hotel. The beach,however, is a ferry or short ride away at the Boca beach club. You could conceivably walk to Misner park-- probably a 15/20 minute of so walk--for shopping/dining.

We also have a toddler and for me, the yacht club room, though fairly spacious, isn't as comfortable as some other boca resort options with a child. When we have gone to Boca since having our child, we stay at the bungalows -- which are a bit of a walk to the main hotel, but so much more room-- and they have full kitchens which is nice with a small child and the bungalows have their own pool.

I am being so indecisive....which is better with a toddler, Four Seasons West Palm (basic room), or Resort at Singer Island (all suites).

A regular room at the FS in Palm Beach (it's not in west palm) is just your basic room. So it would be like staying in any nice hotel room with a toddler. The pool is really nice there and the beach is also quite nice, but it is a drive away from the center of palm beach and there's not much to walk around to there. That is something that matters to me as I like to take my daughter for walks. IMO, the rooms at the FS PB are just OK. the service is fantastic, the food is great and teh pool area is very nice, but the room is so so (IMO).

I think the yacht club room at boca resort, which is kind of like a junior suite, might be a little bigger, but you could call the hotels and ask them what the square footage is for the rooms you are interested in. but again , for beach at boca resort, you have to travel.

It's all a very personal decision, but I decided that when we traveled with my daughter we needed a suite. I like to have her crib in a separate area, even if it's in the living room. a kitchenette is great to have, but not necessary- you could ask for a small fridge and a microwave from almost any hotel if you need those. But for me, the separate living area is really key.

I forgot to mention i have never stayed on singer island, so i can't speak to that.

Thanks...I think I have to think about whats most important and that is having a suite so there is a seperate area for the crib, and that we can walk to the beach and pool. Singer Island has all of those things so that one seems to be the most logical choice.

Singer Island Resort looks very nice-- please post a trip report after you go. I'd love to hear more about it. Have a great trip!
