Request info..Colorado in Aug.

We are going to Estes Park for family reunion. I would like to travel with kids ages 8/12 for a week or 2 and see more of Colorado. We skiid in Beaver Creek before but have not seen Co. in summer. We will be in Ft. Collins at some point.

Any info on points of interest, lodging, tips for Aug. travel etc. appreciated.
Your kids will enjoy Estes. There is lots to do. Hiking, biking, fishing, sightseeing. Estes is beautiful. You will be close to Grand Lake which is just a short scenic drive over Trail Ridge from Estes Park. From there you can easily go to Winter Park or head deeper into the mountains and go to Glenwood Springs. The springs has a huge hot springs pool that you family would love. Get reservations now - the Hot Springs Lodge is nice and close. There is lots to do in Glenwood also.

Wil try sending some info direct as it's too long to post here. Enjoy. Lots to do and CO is wonderful!

We made a trip based on the scenic highways of Colorado. You might get some ideas from our web site . . . http://www.geocities.com/judcomp/co1.htm . . .
Your kids might like the experience of driving to the top of Mt. Evans, 14,000+ feet. Colorado Springs and Denver, of course, have many attractions.

Be forewarned--Estes Park is overrun with tourist traps. It has been compared--fairly, I believe--with Gatlinburg, Tennessee, which is the center of the tourist trap world. Winter Park is a much, much better choice for hanging out. The bar at the Iron Horse resort is one of the West's great meeting places.
