Reputable Cooking Classes
I am planning a trip to New York this June from the 19th to the 26th and am looking to take a few cooking classes during my stay. I was wondering if anyone may be able to make any suggestions or recomendations of some that are reputable, but won't break the bank.
Thank you so much. |
The New School, located in the Village, has a great culinary school through their Continuing Ed program. They have lots of 1 day and weekend classes in every type of cooking topic you can imagine, and many are taught by famous chefs. I've taken a ton of classes through them and would highly recommend them. You can check them out at www.newschool.edu.

I have taken several classes at the Institute of Culinary Education - www.iceculinary.com -- They are located at 50 W. 23rd St. (NYC) -- I received the summer schedule (in the mail) last week . 212 847-0700.
You may also want to post @ www.egullet.com -- aside from egullet's online school - it's a great resource -- |
Thank you for the prompt reply. I did a bit of background research on these two places already and we will only be able to go to a handful of them. Is there anything more funky or chic that could be suggested? I am thinking along the lines of about $200 american dollars total (either per class or for a few, right afer each other)

2nd vote for the New School. They have some really interesting culinary courses with various types of cuisine. Check out their course schedule online at http://www.nsu.newschool.edu/culinar...currcourse.htm
They have classes that specialize in Italian cooking, baking, healthy eating, Southeast Asian, etc. Pretty comprehensive. They also have 1 day classes for wine tasting and a whole slew of other stuff. |
