Renting a condo in Florida in January
We're talking about renting a condo in Florida for January. This is new for us and we don't know Florida. We'd like to be on the Gulf and far enough south that it's warm with water views. One bedroom is okay and we're flexible on price. All advice and suggestion welcome.

Further south, the warmer in January.
Book early, January and February always sell out. VRBO is a good place to shop. |
Do you want a lot of activity or do you mostly want to relax?
The further south you go, the less there is to do but the warmer it gets. We rented a house on Marco Island the first week in March. You could do a day trip to the Everglades or Miami or Naples, but there isn't much to do on the island itself compared with Sarasota. On the other hand, it is a lot warmer. Naples has a lot of cultural activities, shopping, restaurants but is less affordable. Even in Key West, you may get a few chilly days in January. In the years we wintered in Naples, we may have had some mornings in the high 40's but the locals were running around all bundled up if it didn't get up to 70. |
And the further south you go on the EAST coast, the MORE there is to do.

Thanks, any other suggestions?

I'll be the one to ask. What is"flexible on price"? $2000? $8,000? Does "water views" mean ON the Gulf?
