Saw the message on Alamo, any thoughts on local rental agencies? Payless or local owned rental agencies in Orlando FL in August 99?

I made reservations for our trip in Sept with Dollar. They were about $115 a week for a four door compact car. However, I called many other agencies first and checked the internet repeatedly and haggled over the phone with the phone rep to get this rate. I was very surprised at how much variation there was in rates among the bigger rental agencies (about $100 difference).

I used Enterprise when I went to Orlando and wasn't impressed. It was a fair distance from the airport to their lot by shuttle and then we had to wait 20 minutes for a car (it had just been returned and was still being washed. Be prepared for a shock when you get the "add-on" fees (not optional - these are standard Florida surcharges). These fees amount to a good 15% or higher as I recall.

We went to WDW last July and used National car rental. We walked right up to the counter at the airport without a line! After doing the paper work they escorted us to the garage to pickup our car. It was surprisingly easy.
