Rental Cars
I have seen both pros and cons about renting a car in San Francisco. I am confused. We plan to stay around the city, but will go to Muir Woods and over the Oakland and GG bridge. We are staying in the Marina area.We are 4 people. I figure just the ride from the airport would save us money by renting.
Opinions??Be specific!

Why are you going over the Bay Bridge? Oh I know, to get to the other side! What do you hope to find there? Turning around at Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island?

Teena, if you are staying in the Marina, I'm venturing you have free parking or it's not terribly expensive. If that is the case, by all means rent a car. You won't need it to get around the city but if you are going out of the city for a few day trips, and for driving from the airport to your hotel, it will probably be worthwhile. The people to whom I recommend they don't rent a car are those staying in the hotels near Union Square, where you'll pay upwards of $30 a day to park it, and who are only confining their trip to exploring within the city. Enjoy!

Teena,

Don't pay attention to X's sarcastic remarks.

X,

Obviously Teena has a reason for crossing the Oakland Bay Bridge. She probably plans to visit Oakland. There is more to the Bay Area than just seeing San Francisco. I guess that is too difficult a concept for you to grasp since you probably have never even been outside of SF.

It wasn't sarcasm it was just a little joke. Sorry to have hit a nerve. Visitors don't usually find reasons to cross the bridge unless they're headed somewhere interesting. Thought maybe Teena would share. I don't live in SF.
