reno to Yosemite last week in april

I'll be flying in to Reno at 3:30 Apri 29 and would like to drive to Yosemite that same day. I don't know if I'll be up to it since I'll still be stuck on Eastern time.
I plan on taking 88 to 49 and then either 120 or 140. I don't want to drive after dark so what is a good stopping point. What time does it get dark in this area? I hope to get a rental car and be out of the Reno airport by 4:30. Can I make groveland by dark or should I look closer to Jackson

Ok, let's start with the sunset time. Sunset at the end of April is around 7:00 but twilight will linger before it gets super dark.

From Reno to Jackson it will be around 3+- hours. The next day Jackson to Yosemite Valley will be 2.5 hours. Maybe Jackson is a good stopping point. If not it's another 15 minutes to San Andreas or 30 minutes to Angels Camp.

In Jackson there is a best western or a holiday inn express. If you want you can also stay at teh Rancharia Casino.

There is a best western in Angels Camp too.

Reno to Groveland will be 4.5 to 5 hours.

Thanks Suzie,
Do you think I would need reservations for that night? I'm not sure how the crowds will be but I'm traveling alone and not picky about the rooms( well maybe a little picky)

That'a Saturday night but it's well outside spring break. It's a toss up. You could risk it.

I suggest Jackson or Angels Camp also. Both are fun towns for an overnighter. Then you can enjoy most of the pretty Gold Country in the light.

I have found a couple of rooms for Sunday night in or close to Yosemite. The 4 seasons has a loft and Cedar lodge has a few rooms. Any other suggestions? which you be best?
Thanks everyone, for your help

Ok let me correct the sunset time. Today is the first full day of daylight saving time and the sunset time in the paper is 7:30. Figure 1 minute per day later through June 21st when it starts to shorten again.

For sunrise and sunset times for any day of the year, for any city in the USA and for several places in the world (taking into account Daylight Savings); check out
