Reno to Tahoe
Friends have a condo somewhere on the lake - not even sure where at this point. I'm just trying to figure out how to get to the lake from airport in Reno. Rent a car, take a bus, shuttle available??? How far would it be to get to the nearest point of the lake from the airport?

45-60 minutes driving time from North Lake Tahoe (depending where) to Reno. Maybe a litle more than an hour from Reno to South Lake Tahoe.
|
And it is an easy, interesting drive. I've done it several times. There is also a bus option - the Tahoe Express. But I am not sure where it stops other than South Lake Tahoe.

There is a shuttle bus from the airport, and local buses - at the South Tahoe. I am not familiar with N. Tahoe, but if you're going South, I can search and post website links for you.

Thanks so much everyone.

You simply MUST find out where the condo is before anyone can give you the best info/advice. It makes a huge difference if you mean Incline, or Tahoe City, or Homewood, or Southshore, or Zephyr Cove, or someplace else. The lake is huge and what is practical for one area could be impossible for another . . .

janis is completely right on you need to know where the condo is..
Lake Tahoe is HUGE. We've rented a car from the Reno Airport to North and South Tahoe and it was super easy and a nice drive..and it was snowing. Lake Tahoe is such a lovely place. |
The lake has a 71-mile circumference. I know that, because my DH and some friends have ridden bikes around it a couple of times. Huge.
