Reno Restaurants?

Anyone have a 'stand out' restaurant in Reno? Taking a friend to a bday dinner, and could use some advise....

I was just going to do a post asking the same question Betty. I know the usual Casino dining/ buffets, although wanting something special as I'm going to be there in a few days. :-)

Thanks for the rec KINSOCAL.

A friend recommended Cafe Soleil, which apparently has stellar views of Reno and good food. Someone else said PF Chains, I mean PF Changs.

I'll post Cafe Soleil experience for TRIPPINKPJ (Karen)....

I know this isn't the kind of place for this event, but we loved Pho 777 for genuine Vietnamese food. Teeny tiny place downtown with awesome food.

Hi..
We just had a wonderful dinner at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino called Roxy's and it was fab! It was French cuisine and the decor and service was outstanding! Here is the link to the hotel and then go to dining link.

La Strada gets rave reviews too!

So, I called Cafe Soleil and made a reservation. However, I did not pay attention that Cafe Soleil is no longer, and in its place is an Asian restaurant. The view was indeed spectacular, the wine list good, the sushi good, chinese food mediocre, and the service so-so. When I called, I mentioned it was a bday dinner, we arrived 20 minutes late, because we were looking for the wrong name for the restaurant, and had to wait for a table by the window (to be expected). Mentioned again it was a bday, but the staff never 'followed through'. All in all, the view top drawer, however for food quality- go to pf changs.

Anything new? Looking for recommendations for special occasion restaurants in Reno! Thanks.

Charlie Palmer has a couple of restaurants in the Grand Sierra, a steak house (of course) and a sea food restaurant. Bistro Roxy is still at the Eldorado and is still good. Harrahs Steak House is still good and has been for years and years.
