WSOXREBEL... OMG that is funny!
I work in Southlake and almost all my colleagues live in Southlake. I live in Sachse and they all joke that I live in Mesquite (why is that funny?) The Southlake crowd is a bit competitive for me but it is a great area, convenient and all new. One of my colleagues moved to Kessler Park from Colorado site unseen (almost). He did not solicit much information from locals and his agent took him to the house at night. They hated it there because they were surrounded by high crime areas. Some love it there, they hated it and moved to Southlake as soon as they could get rid of the house they had just bought. Southlake feels safe and it is... schools are good too. I stay in Sachse (Wylie ISD) because I grew up here and it is still a great place to live. I love that I know so many people and my new neighborhood is full of friendly people who enjoy block parties and rely on each other. It's just a warm place. My friends in Southlake, who mostly live around Southlake Blvd and White Chapel don't seem to have that type of neighborhood. BUT the families with kids in high school sure share a sense of community during football season! They always seem to have a great team! |
Wylie is great if you are born again and want medical care in the form of prayers.

LOL mikemo
traveynt, you might be hard pressed to find a lot size that huge here in the DFW area. Frisco is another area you could consider - some huge houses, gated communites - close to lake lewisville, however I don't know anything about Frisco ISD. |
Mikemo... I am a little slow, can you explain that post?
Do you mean that Wylie has a lot of churches and no hospital? |
Don't overlook Flower Mound, Highland Village area, either. Close to DFW, great schools, and rapidly growing. Lots of relocations & transplants.

North East Tarrant County is a GREAT place to live! I am in Grapevine, and we just love it here. :-D
If you want your kids to go to public schools, then don't even consider ANYTHING in Dallas ISD. Even though there are a few good schools, most are just awful. Southlake Carroll ISD does have some problems, but the parents there make a huge difference. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Keller ISD are very good, too. And speaking as someone who lived in the Forest Hills/White Rock area of Dallas for 5 years, the "large lots" there aren't an acre until you get well over the $1,000,000 range. Property taxes in Dallas County will eat you alive, and the petty crime (cars getting broken into, gang signs spray-painted on fences, gunshots at night, etc.) got too annoying, so we moved and have never looked back. Tracey, DO come down for a weekend!! And be sure to check out NET!! |
