Tucson, for sure! Excellent weather, reasonable cost of living, great outdoor activities year-round, and as MikeP points out, nearer the coast than most people think. I hope you check it out.

Asheville (and the surrounding elevations with lots of national forest) is a lot less humid than elsewhere in the SE.

The motto of my little corner of the world in N GA is "Where Spring spends the Summer".

And it's true.

Asheville has a lot of cultural diversity and easy-going attitude you don't often find elsewhere in the SE.
