Relocating from the UK to Florida

My husband and I live in the UK and are seriously interested in relocating to Florida.

I have found several companies that will help us with the relocation/buying a business in Florida.

But I am extremely keen to make contact/get impartial advice from anyone who has actually (relocated) done this themselves.

My mother previously had a vacation home in Kissimmee for 7 years, so have visited Florida many times, and familiar with costs of setting up a home there.

Any help would be much appreciated.

THANKS!

Janine

My only warning would be in regards to the heat and humidity in Florida - especially coming from the UK. You may feel a bit clastrophobic because most locals don't venture far from the air conditioning. But, if you have visited a vacation home in Kissimmee you would have experienced the double whammy of h&h.

I hope others can give more specifics about comparable costs and business relocation.

Do you have green cards, or are you US citizens living in the UK?

We are not UK residents, nor do we hold green cards, but understand if we buy/run a business which employs more than 2 US residents we become eligible for an E-2 visa that allows us to live/run the business we buy in Florida.

Oops sorry - meant to say we are not US citizens. We are British passport holders.

Honestly, I'd retain an American immigration attorney to make sure that advice is correct. It would be a shame for you to buy the business and come over, only to find out that some paperwork was done incorrectly and be turned away.
