Rehoboth Beach Outlets?

Possibly planning a overnight bus trip for 35 to Rehoboth beach outlets...Is it worth the trip...I received a good overnight rate, complete with goodies for the 2nd week of December...I thought it would be a good pre-xmas trip for last minute shopping. How are crowds at the mall at that time??

Thanks

You're bound to get slammed for this post because some people are going to think you're a travel agent, but anyway...

Is it worth the trip? If you judge by the crowds, the answer is yes. The outlet malls there are swamped on summer weekends, and don't even think about trying to get a parking space on a rainy day in the summer. At the least, there's a lot of variety in the types of good sold.

As you may know, Del. has no sales tax, so that's a further appeal.

Rehoboth Outlets are really 3 separate strip centers. It is not a closed/covered mall.

Is it worth it? Depends where you are coming from. There certainly are many other outlet centers around. The stores are mostly typical outlet stores with the exception of LL Bean.

If you aren't a travel agent....are these 35 of your closest friends?

Dick: Every week, particularly in the fall, there are hundreds of trips like this happening in the mid-Atlantic. Virtually NONE are done by travel agents.

They're organized by church groups, retirement homes, fraternal societies and the like. Malls are a favorite destination, as is NYC and Atlantic City.

And to the nitty-gritty: The Rehoboth outlets would be an excellent destination. The shoulder-season tourists are gone, and my recollection is that prices can get right cheap.

inthe,

Unlike a mall, the weather is a factor because the strip centers aren't enclosed.

Since the Outlets are really 3 separate strip centers they will need to commute to the other centers.

There really is no decent place to eat there except Bull on the Beach for sandwiches...so that may be a factor for some people.

No decent place to eat in Rehoboth Beach? Maybe no decent place to eat on that strip where the malls are, but Rehoboth has some great food. The Washington Post travel section has a beach guide with lots of info on Rehoboth.

Amy,

Of course there are plenty of places to eat in Rehoboth Beach.

I was only talking about the Outlet Centers for their lack of decent food.

With everyone coming by bus, it didn't seem that going to places like the Blue Moon or getting a Nic-O-Boli was a possibility.
