Registry Resort - Naples, FL
 

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has stayed at the Registry Resort or could offer information regarding places to stay. This is our first time in Naples, we want a chance to look around for future vacations. Is this a good place to get around? How far is it from downtown Naples? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We haven't stayed there in a couple of years, but we loved it. We stayed in one of the villas and it was beautiful. FYI, the hotel is separated from the beach by a large mangrove jungle. It is a short walk, via their boardwalk, to the beach and they have a cart that will shuttle you back and forth. The hotel is south of Naples and it is probably a 20-30 minute drive to the downtown area, depending on traffic. This drive can be brutal during the season. We always have a great time at the Registry, but we go there to get away from everything. If you want to check out the area, I'd suggest staying closer to town.

We've stayed there twice and on both occasions we loved it although on our second visit, October 2000, they were refurbshing the rooms and extending the swimming pool area. It should be finished by now. <BR>The service and staff couldn't have been more helpful. <BR>As for being near downtown, a 10 min drive at most. <BR>The hotel is very near the beach with free transportation arranged, to and from.

I think Sal meant to say the Registry is North of downtown. And the difference in estimates above of from 10 minutes up to 30 minutes are correct. Traffic in season can really be slow, but 15 minutes is probably average. As a beach resort property it is second only to the Ritz Carlton and its location is actually a little better than the Ritz. Really close to downtown and still beach type resorts are the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club and the Edgewater Beach (very nice and upscale and small). Other than those two nearly all of the beachfront near downtown consists of private homes and condominiums, although there is public beach access at the end of every street. If you want the activity of downtown Naples but can forgo being on the beach, there is the newly redone Escalante at the corner of 3rd Street S., and 5th Ave. S, the two main streets of the downtown. It is not a major resort however if you are looking for the resort services. It is a complex of two story buildings in tropical gardens two blocks from the beach.

Jackie,we stayed there a couple yrs.ago.It was very nice but they overbooked many rooms and we had to stay 1 night at a nearby hotel.Cab driver told us this frequently happens.Again very nice hotel but watch out.

We live in the UK. We stayed at the Registry 2 years ago. It is a fantastic hotel, ideal for couples. <BR>Probably not suitable for children. <BR>The rooms are spacious and well presented, the view from the balcony is great - well ours was! Our room was on the front of the hotel quite high up, you could see the ocean in the distance. If you stay there look out for the white Church/Chapel in the distance also. <BR>There is the Coastland Mall and a Publix less than a five minute drive away. <BR>We did not eat at any of the restaurants, a bit too exclusive for us really. <BR>Naples is a nice place to visit, a total contrast from Orlando, very quiet. <BR>We would certainly visit the Registry again sometime.
