OBS-
there are probably a lot of people like yourself who travel extensively and we could benefit from your experience. But unfortunately, there are so many demented people out there (here) lurking and waiting to pounce. And it is always on the interesting ones, not the ho hum posters.
Patrick is one who can attest to that!
You just explained to me why all of a sudden my hotmail account was over run with crap, crap and more crap! How stupid could I be. I just posted here for the first time last week and my incoming e-mails quadrupled. I guess it's live and learn.

Thank you posters!
I had almost the same thing happen to me that happened to Linda. I never knew what was sent, but started getting letters for people about my site. They were creepy. I think it was a spammer. Does anyone know what our goverment intends to do about this problem? Heard 9/11 stopped the Congress from looking at it. Anyone?

oh yes- all spam was required to have a path which you could identify. wasn't it convenient that 9/11 caused this to be put aside. Big gov't and private concerns are making huge $$$ off the porn industry and the legal, free nd open use of spam/commerce on the internet. They are all connected now.

I also set up yahoo account just for posting to boards. Yahoo has the accounts set up now with an inbox and a bulk mail folder, and the spam goes into bulk mail folder - so it is easy to just zap all the messages in the bulk mail folder, I don't even have to look at them.

bulk mail Mar 27th, 2002 11:40 AM

Regarding Bulk Mail and Spam Mail folders:

The process and scanning of your mail is automatic. That means that sometimes personal mail gets forwarded into this bulk mailbox. I have lost numerous emails because I missed them in my bulk mailbox. Likewise, lots of spam gets into my regular inbox. Obviously, the spammers know the precautions taken by yahoo and hotmail and they do everything to "fool" the bulk mail checkers.

I now have to review through my INBOX and also my BULK MAILBOX to see what is spam and what is not. It's a huge hassle.

Also, on hotmail, I assigned about 40 email addresses that are spam. The problem is that the spammers don't send spam from the same email every time....it might come from [email protected] the first time, then [email protected] the next time.

SPAM STINKS!

Seriously the "big business" aspect of spam is not reflected in this email thread. Sure, congress' minds were elsewhere after 9/11, but be certain that BIG BUSINESS wants spam to go away. It costs every corporation MILLIONS just to read, process, scan, detect and erase spam.
