Redondo Beach, CA

Hi,
I am going to Redondo Beach, CA for a seminar on Sept. 11th. I would like to fly out a few days early for a romantic weekend with my hubby. I am looking for a nice Bed and Breakfast in the area. I am willing to drive about an hour or two away from the location. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Just north of LAX is the Inn at Playa del Rey where we like to go for a special occasion.

If you want to leave LA completely, there are many B&Bs in Santa Barbara, about two and a half hours north of Redondo Beach. Some are The Bath House, The Cheshire Cat, The Simpson House, The Umpham Hotel, to name a few of the well known ones.

Thank you so much MBnancy... I will take a look at the link. Do you have any recommendations for things to do in the area?

Why not head south? Within an hour or so of RB you'll find some lovely little hotels and B&Bs in Laguna Beach, like the Casa Laguna (www.casalaguna.com) or La Casa del Camino (www.casacamino.com). And farther down in San Juan Capistrano, there's the Casa Tropicana (www.casatropicana.com) and the Mission Inn SJC (www.missioninnsjc.com).

rjw, I think the advice you give on Fodors is always awesome. Not about the Casa del Camino however. Poster is looking for a Romantic weekend with her husband.
We stayed at this hotel two years ago in Sept., thinking it was a block from the beach in Laguna and would be a charming old hotel to celebrate a birthday. The room was tiny (we paid for the best ocean view) with a small window looking into a neighbor's yard. The furniture was old and dated, room was cramped. No a/c and a fan by the window, it was too hot, as Sept. usually is. Also, too far to walk to the downtown area. It did have a nice roof top patio, however and staff was pleasant.

Point taken, MBNancy-- charm is in the eye of the beholder, and if the rooms are not up to snuff, then they can take a pass. I've seen the rooms myself and liked them, but the small size and the lack of A/C never really bothers me on the coast.

Casa Laguna's even farther south of downtown Laguna. Still....

Thanks for the advice. I am trying to find something in the price range of $100-$150. Is that possible. One of my co-workers told me to go towards San Diego and then cross the border into Mexico. There is a bus that I can take for $4. Has anyone done that?
Thanks Again
