Redefined trip 3 days Grand Canyon, 2 Sedona
After the seggestions it looks like we may enjoy a bit of both spots...here's the plan 3 days at GC, 2 in Sedona...any great places to stay in Sedona?? We're either going mid September or October depending on dog sitter and choices at the 2 destinations. Suggestions greatfuly appreciated

I'm assuming that you plan to do a lot of hiking in Grand Canyon. If not, then 2 days there would be plenty, although just relaxing and absorbing the beauty of the place would be nice too.
Either on the way in or out, do go one way or the other on rt. 89 and visit Wupatki, an ancient Native American site.

I agree that two days is sufficient for the Grand Canyon. See the sun rise. See the sunset. Do some hiking.
I would spend three days in Sedona. See Oak Creek. See the Red Rocks. Maybe take a jeep tour. Go to Slide Rock Park. Walk through the little town.
I have stayed at the Days Inn in Sedona. It wasn't fancy, but it was clean, comfortable and affordable. A friend of mine stayed at The Enchantment, which is pretty upscale.
There are a bunch of great restaurants in Sedona as well.
