Red Roof Inn Manhattan--Good!

Just returned from a stay at the Red Roof Inn, Manhattan. Wanted to verify the good reviews for this hotel that appear on this board.

Had a room with a king size bed for $120/night plus the usual taxes.

Room was small but certainly adequate and nicely decorated. Bathroom was also in good shape. A great deal!

Continental breakfast was adequate--bagels, cereal, muffins, coffee, tea, juice.

The hotel is about 2 blks from Empire State building. Close to Penn station and Madison Sq Garden--about a 4-5 block walk. Macy's about 5-6 blocks away--couldn't help thinking that this hotel would be a great base for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Overall, I was very satisfied and would definitely stay here again.

Michelle,

Thanks for the info. I typically stay at the other end of the block, but always wonder about the Red Roof for myself, or to suggest to other people. Glad you enjoyed it.

The Red Roof Inn Manhattan is operated by Applecore Hotels, which owns several other smaller economy hotels in Manhattan that also have been recently rehabilitated. I had a very good expereince at the Comfort Inn Midtown, a half-block from Times Square on W46; paid under $100 per night.

Statia - who cares where you usually stay?

Michelle, glad you had such a good experience; it's great when people post their trip reports - very helpful! Did you book the RRI on their website or did you use something like quickbook.com, etc.?

XXX - my sentiments exactly. What is it with Doug?

Statia - you are an asset on this board.

Statia Aug 6th, 2002 11:52 AM

Thanks "xxx" and "s". I appreciate it.

Doug thanked Michelle for her post, which was helpful to many people I'm sure, including myself. What exactly did Statia's post do to help fellow travelers? Trip reports are great - we need more here; comments like "I haven't tried that" or "I usually stay somewhere else" are just plain babbling.

Michelle, how far in advance did you book?

xxx Aug 7th, 2002 02:48 AM

hum. seems to me statia thanked michelle also and even gave a reason why she was interested in how the hotel is. doug seemed to have no real interest in the hotel itself. get a life.

Excuse me xxx, I believe Doug asked Michelle about booking this hotel. Sorry, Statia, but I tend to agree with some of the comments here. Posting stuff like 'I typically stay at the other end of the block' frankly doesn't help many people. Michelle, I too am wondering how you booked and how far in advance - any information you can share would be appreciated. Thanks!
