Red Lodge, MT drive to YNP Roosevelt Lodge via Beartooth Hghway

Hello - I know there are unknown variables - weather, accidents, animal jams, etc. so I am keeping that in mind. Does anyone have any idea how long it should take to drive from Red Lodge, MT to the Roosevelt Lodge in YNP? Travel will be mid August. Thanks -

Has anyone done this route? I am estimating 4 hours.

I've done the route but, for me, it was more like 10 hours because of all the stopping I did. If you drove straight through and did not have many delays, it would take 3-4 hours.

Yikes that is a long time. I am planning on a stop for lunch and some quick stops along the way.

4 hours sounds reasonable. We drove it one summer a long time ago, and I don't remember for sure DH would know and I will ask him if no one else chimes in. We had driven from K Bar Z guest ranch to Yellowstone.

It is a pretty drive, for sure, so you might want to stop a few times to snap pics.

Oops-- we drove from Red Lodge to K Bar Z ranch (outside Cody, Wyoming, which is a fun place to stop). After staying at the ranch, we drove to Yellowstone.

Anywho-- it is gorgeous country!

It should only take about two to three hours if the pass isn't blocked with snow as it was on June 18, 2011, when we tried to make the trip.

If the pass is closed, the drive via Cody is about 180 miles and it will take about four hours without stops.

Thanks everyone. We are going in mid August so don't expect snow closed roads. I am estimating 3 hours to get to Silver Gate at the NE entrance and then maybe an hour and a half to get to the Roosevelt lodge.
