Red Lion Inn Stockbridge question food and shopping

Hello fodorites...some friends and I are going this weekend and were wondering if you had any recommendations for a good breakfast place in the area or lunch. We will probably have most meals right at the inn but if there is a really great breakfast place, we'd love to know. Also, are there any particular stores that stand out for shopping for knick knacks and/or furniture. I'm sure Inn folks can guide us but always love getting feedback on here. Finally, we are schedule to have dinner in the dining room at the Inn...has anyone eaten there?

Thanks very much.

I actually really liked breakfast at the Inn. they make awesome pancakes! I ate dinner there once, a couple of years ago (maybe 3?) and lunch last summer. I like the food. Its pretty straightforward, simple American cooking, but it's tasty. I had a nice lobster salad at lunch time.

Cafe Adam, on route 7 in nearby Great Barrington, has a very good weekend brunch.

For shopping, just wander down Main Street. there are a number of good shops.

There's an artists coop, and couple of nice antique stores in Great Barrington too.

Absolutely eat breakfast at the inn. I love the hearty things like hash, but the baked goods and pancakes were heartily enjoyed by my family.

Great Barrington is a larger town and has better shopping on the whole. Lenox is a smaller town but very, very upscale, so the shops there may be of interest if that's your thing.

I've had lunch at Once Upon a Table and liked it very much. It's a very short walk from the Red Lion Inn.
