Recommended Moderately Priced Hotels in San Francisco?
 

Any recommendations for moderately priced ($90-$125) hotels in San Francisco? Nothing fancy, just nice enough, clean and comfortable, preferably in the Union Square area.

Hi-we are big fans of the Andrews Hotel on Post Street, two blocks from Union Square..the prices fall right into your category. In the a.m. there is a buffet on each floor with a huge breakfast, rolls, muffice, juice, coffee, tea, fruit.. In the attached restaurant in the p.m. there is a complimentary glass of wine.. We ate there there several time during our stay... It is a funky old fashioned hotel which does not advertise. This was our second time there and we were greated with bar of chocolate and personal note in our room. Try seeing if that happens at a Holiday Inn... For more info please write me..

If on the other hand you're willing to consider a Holiday Inn if the price is right you might look into a special promotion being offered here locally at the Gateway Holiday Inn {Van Ness Ave}. You buy certificates by 2/4 to use until 5/31 , $49 Sun-Thur,$69 Fri-Sat. This is just a basic downtown highrise Holiday Inn. I'd call the Andrews first,definitely a far nicer experience, to check their rates for your specific dates, their rates vary quite a bit depending on what's going on in town , and then see how that compares with the Holiday Inn special. You must call the reservation desk direct at 415-441-4000 and ask for the room certificate special. Be sure to check restrictions and black out dates.There is a hefty 14% hotel tax here so remember to factor that in.Just another option to consider. {Sorry if this ended up being a repeat post , but this thing is not working well today, maybe it's the rain here.}

I recently saw a website (or web listing) for a B&B in SF for aprx. $100 per night. I'm sure it was the Alamo Square B&B. FYI, Alamo Square is the very scenic block often in photos with the row of beautifully painted Victorian houses and the SF skyline in the background. Also, there's one in the Union Square area called the Brady Arms (I think on Jones or Taylor Streets). A friend stayed there, and it was clean, quiet and convenient. It's a little older and funky - very popular with European and Asian tourists. I think room rates are around $100 or less. Good luck.

I recommend either the Hotel Beresford or Hotel Beresford Arms. They are both in Union Square. They are sister hotels. We stayed at both - started at Hotel Beresford and then for one night before flying home we stayed at the Beresford Arms. <BR>Hotel Beresford Arms is the nicer of the two. 415-673-2600 <BR>Hotel Beresford - 415-673-9900 <BR> <BR>If I recall - we paid about $100 in the Hotel Beresford and $125 in Beresford Arms. Breakfast was included at both and the Beresford Arms even had a wine and cheese cocktail hour!

Thanks everyone for the terrific recommendations. Alamo Square looks charming, but tour guides recommend caution in that area, especially after dark. I did check out the Andrews and both Beresfords at several web booking sites and by calling directly (amazing disparity in rates and availability). By some miracle, I managed to snare a room at the Juliana for $99.95/night.
