Recommendations for Second City Show Pre-Dinner

Last minute question before we head out for our trip. We're going to see a show at Second City Monday @ 8PM. Any recommendations for dinner within the area?

Also, are Wicker Park, Oak Park, and Lincoln Park neighborhoods near each other (public transportation wise) by any chance???

Thanks for your help!

Hi aristokat - what kind of food are you interested in?

FYI Wicker Park and Lincoln Park are actually part of Chicago and could easily traveled to by public transportation.

Oak Park on the other hand is a separate city altogether but still can be reached by public transportation.

www.transitchicago.com will help you for Wicker Park and Lincoln Park

www.rtachicago.com will help for Oak Park as well as metrarail.com

How many people are going to dinner and what's your budget?

There are several places in Old Town mostly concentrated along Wells Street. A couple of my favs are Orzo's for Italian or O'Brien's for a good steak. You can check www.chicagoreader.com or www.metromix.com and search by cuisine, price range or neighborhood.

Oak Park isn't a neighborhood, it's a suburb that's about 9 miles west of The Loop. It's accessible via the CTA Blue or Green Line or Metra. Second City is located at the south edge of Lincoln Park. The neighborhood extends from North Avenue to Diversey Street and Lake Michigan to the river/Clybourn Avenue. Wicker Park is a mile or so west of Lincoln Park centered around North Avenue, Damen and Milwaukee. You can take the Blue Line to Damen.

Food wise we really have no preference!

Good to know, we might try to do Wicker Park and Lincoln park in one day and Oak park suburbs another day.

Thank you so much!

Adobo Grill right next door is very good.

aristokat, you might want to take a look at the neighborhood map on the Explore Chicago website. Or, better yet, since you are going to need direction how to get there, from the online map (North Side) on the CTA's website.

I don't believe you realize how large Lincoln Park actually is. You would be very hardpressed to get through only it in a single day and it's likely you wouldn't.

To clarify Citylghts' response on Wicker Park: We do not know where you are staying or the starting point from where you wish to get to that destination. However, you cannot access the Blue Line to Wicker Park from any address in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. I believe that Citylghts assumed that you are staying in the downtown ("Loop"), Magnificent Mile or River North areas of Chicago, as most tourists usually do.

Please also note that Second City (located at Piper's Alley) is actually in the Old Town neighborhood. However, it's very close to the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Thank you exiled, citylghts, nano, and sf. We will be staying at the MagMile during our time in Chicago, but we will actually be visiting the suburbs for a couple days before that so I will take the time to look and see the logistics of where we want to go. Thank you for your help!
