Recommendation for pizza restaurant near Yale University
 

I am going to a lacrosse game tomorrow, and offered to provide pizza for the team. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best place to order pizza from close to Yale University?

If you are driving, then Frank Pepe's in Wooster Square is very popular and very good.

Modern Apizza on State Street also gets great reviews.

A friend of mine who lived in New Haven for years swore by Modern Apizza--and I thought it was very good, the one time I went.

Go to Sally's Apizza on Wooster Street for the best New Haven-style pie (trust me I live across the street and it is the only pizza I will eat), Modern Apizza on State Street for the best service and most extensive menu, and Frank Pepe's on Wooster Street for the most authentic pizzeria experience.. Oh also try the pizza at Bar (a former pizza chef from Sally's) on Crown Street if you want to wash your food down with a local brew and dance the night away.

You didn't say whether you are taking out or eating in. For a large crowd, I wouldn't go with Sally's. Lately, I (and many others) have been waiting upwards of 90 minutes or MORE for pizza. On a weeknight. Stick with Pepe's , Bar or Modern (a bit further away for takeout).
