Recommend a Great Place to Stay in Williamsburg

My husband and I are planning a few days in Williamsburg in May and I am overwhelmed by the number of lodging choices. We would like a hotel within walking distance of historic area, with a restaurant and breakfast available and a bar for cocktails. Is Williamsburg Inn worth the cash? Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm believe that the Williamsburg Inn best meets your criteria. Personally, I love staying in the colonial houses, but they do not offer restaurant and bar options although you can get room service. The Hotels tab on this webpage gives you reviews on several Williamsburg properties including the Williamsburg Lodge, which received rather poor ratings.

We were in Williamsburg a couple of years ago. We stayed at Kingsmill Resort which is a few minutes (driving) from Colonial Williamsburg. We loved it. We had a one bedroom suite/condo with a full kitchen, dining area, washer and dryer, the works. This is a lovely resort with golf, tennis, marina, indoor and outdoor pools, biking, restaurant, bar, etc. If you decide not to stay within walking distance of CW, you should definitely consider the Kingsmill Resort.

We were in Williamsburg last year and stayed at the Williamsburg Woodlands--it's attached to the historic area. Recently renovated, the rooms are very nice. They do have a small restaurant with a bar and a small but adequate pool. Probably a lot cheaper than the Williamsburg Lodge.

Another option is the Fife & Drum Inn on Prince George Street. You are right next to the historic area. There is a great coffee house on the same street and you are within walking distance of 3 great bars: A. Carrolls, The Trellis, and the Fat Canary.
