Recent Spam Attacks
Hello Fodorites,
As most of you are aware, the Fodor’s forum has been hit hard with recent and ongoing spam. The team at Fodor’s has been working to remove this spam and find a more systematic solution, but unfortunately we are not able to more fully resolve this until we migrate to a platform with more sophisticated anti-spam tools. We hope to do this soon, and will keep the community updated on our progress. Meanwhile, we will do our best to implement a more effective manual spam-removal schedule, and we understand the stress this has caused many members of this community, and apologize for the delay in finding a permanent solution. Spam sucks. Best, The Fodor's Team |
Good Luck!!

Thanks for the update.

This is ridiculous! Maybe I'm in the wrong time zone but page upon page upon page of spam is a real turnoff....
Can't something be done about this?? |
Appreciate the update, but IB said the move to the new platform would occur "early this year." It's now almost April, and if I'm not mistaken this is the first update we've had from IB in many weeks. Couldn't you just insert a Captcha script on the sign-up screens to stop the bots in the meantime?

Gardyloo the Fodors post is from November, sadly. They really appear to not give a rat's patootie about this matter, or perhaps, even the board.
|
Yikes, didn't notice the date.

The spam is like algae choking the life out of fish. It is much worse on the Europe board.
|
sorry - I resurrected this old thread after a google search on the subject!
Yes, it is actually the Europe board that is terrible - was trying to ensure that Fodors were hearing us :( |
As a participant from before 1999, I think the Fodor's brand no longer is investing in this forum.

Looking at the Europe board this morning, it seems the battle, if there ever was one, is lost.
