Reasonably priced seafood/steak restaurant near the strip in Las Vegas?
Yeah, I know, reasonably priced on the strip is usually an oxymoron but the Fodorites often come through when the impossible is requested. A group of poor students and the recently graduated are traveling to Vegas for a conference and one of them has requested suggestions. They are staying near the Luxor and, I believe, are looking for a restaurant that serves steak and seafood.

Your best price bet it to get away from the strip, out into the burbs.
Here are a few to get you started.

You can also check out menus on opentable.

Thank you, Rastaguytoday. That's very much appreciated. They won't have a car. I gave them a couple of recs that I found on Open Table, only one was on the strip. Do you know anything about the Steakhouse at Camelot in the Excaliber?

Ellis Island is one block south of the Flamingo behind Paris and Bally's. For $6.95 you can get a steak, baked potato, beer and s hot.
Looks like PH has a deal for $11.95 but does not include a drink.
Another cheap spot - Battista's hole in the wall (behind Flamingo) does a deal for $20-30 which includes soup, salad, a pasta dish, all you can drink wine, cappuccino and dessert. Stop at the liquor store/bar/casino next door and put $5 in the video poker machine to drink for free.. or enjoy $1 drinks.

I'd actually go in a different direction entirely. If you look at any upscale steakhouse on the Strip, almost any one has a big steak for under $60 (i.e., $30 per person per entree). Most of these steaks are huge. Share. Have a nice glass of wine for $15 and share a side and a salad. That's a nice dinner that will still be fairly expensive (i.e., not $11.95) but will still be very very good.
Most of the cheap steak dinners are tiny, and most of the ultra-expensive steaks are huge. So this works out, for me at least, as a decent deal.
The Jean Georges Steakhouse in Aria, for example, has a special that includes Zarkana and dinner for $158 as well as a drink at Zarkana. That seems like a decent deal to me. Not cheap but certainly not a bad deal. I'm sure there are others. Or you can get the early bird menu for $69 (same menu as the show and meal deal). I think most of the restaurants have early bird specials like this. Jean Georges Steakhouse does have an 18-ounce ribeye for $62, and I can attest that it's big enough for two (or three if you have a normal appetite) and delicious.

Thank you for all the additional replies. I have been told that they ended up at Tender at the Luxor. I'm sure all these great suggestions will be useful to anyone else searching for deals.

Ellis Island is located 1 block behind Ballys and has a king cut prime rib for $12.95 that includes a in-house brewed beer. For $11.49, there is a wild salmon entree with all the fixings. Also, there is the off the menu steak special that I think is $8.95 or $9.95, but you can get a $1 off by signing up for the slot club.
On the Strip, I would head to Milos for the $22.13 3-course lunch. Entree options include sea bass, salmon and shrimp.
Julian Serrano has a $19, 3-course lunch that includes entree choices of chicken, salmon or rib eye steak.

It would be a bit of a walk and I hate recommending a chain, but there is an Outback on the 2nd floor of Casino Royale that would fit their budget.
They can visit one of the tix4tonight kiosks and purchase a certificate good for a $24.95 all you can eat rodizio at Pampas Grill at Planet Hollywood. I think the charge is $3 per person.
Tix4tonight (check website for locations) also offers 50% off an entree (ala carte) at Biscayne Steak, Sea and Wine in the Tropicana.
