What is the most reasonably priced hostel/dormitory accomodation for international travelers visiting the Manhattan area in June?

Location is important. Chelsea, East/West Village, close to the action.
Price: 20-30/night

Jazz on the Town-14th Street

hostelz.com lists most all the hostels but I don't think you will find ANYTHING safe for $20-30/night.

There's a hostelused by many european young people on 103rd & Amsterdam. I believe a bed in a dormroom is $35 including a locker.

This is a mixed residential area - not near downtown - but easy to get there by subway - and a lot of student hangouts not far since you're near Columbia.

Have just checked and it's Hostelling International - and a bed in a 6 man - or woman - dorm room is $36 for the summer.
