reasonable travel nights

Spouse and I are driving Texas through Reno to West Coast. Economy of travel driving is priorty. We'd like to spend two nights before Reno.Albuquerque-first night and Tonopah, Nevada-second night.Any ideas on hotels/motels decent quality to stay/ Are these stops driving from Houston reasonable?Albuquerque shouldn't be difficult but Nevada might be a challenge. I'd like to plan where to stop; rather than stop anywhere.
After Reno;one night stop with family; short drive to Seaside for school reunion.
Appreciate any ideas on stays.Would Las Vegas be more opportune stop than Tonopah?
Thank You

There are lots of easy access to I 40 motels in ABQ. Not sure how long it is to drive here from Houston.

What price range for the motel? Any other requirements for it?

Agree about Albuquerque rooms, but Tonopah, Nevada?Thinking about short night stays seven hours-$50.00 approx. We aren't too excited about short drive to Vegas from Albuquerque. Thinking further north towards Reno would be better? How are roads between Las Vegas and Reno?
Thank You

Short drive to Vegas from ABQ?? It's close to 575 miles and at least 8 + hours.

BTW - 14 hours, 885 miles Houston to ABQ.

Are you going through Las Vegas or Reno? You said West Coast.
What CA city are you headed for? West Texas to Albuquerque is a very long day. My wife and I have stayed at the Rt. 66 Hostel on West Central Ave. in ABQ. You can use their kitchen to save money vs. a restaurant.
Plan your route and let us know.

Presently; planning on visiting family in Reno. Then after two nights, driving to Monterey Bay area.It looks like all dayfrom Houston to Albuquerque. 575 miles to Vegas is a little short. we'd like to get closer to Reno. Tonopah appears decent stop. After departing Reno, it's a nice day's drive to Seaside,Monterey area.
Ideas on stops are appreciated. We know Monterey Bay area but any ideas on restaurants there would be welcomed. Both low budget and a couple of higher budget places would be nice. We'll be in area for several days before driving back.
Thanks
