What is your budget and when are you traveling?

nytraveler May 1st, 2014 03:35 PM

Not sure what you mean by suite. Separate bedroom and then living room with pull out sofa bed? Are you looking for a kitchenette.

Almost any place in central DC - except Georgetown - has easy access to most sights with feet and Metro.

And yes, dates will make a lot of difference with rates.

>> Reasonable<<

My 'Reasonable' is likely different than yours. So yes, what is your budget?

There are a couple of Embassy Suites in DC, and the convention center location is most central. I stayed recently at the West Side location, and while its a walk to the Metro, I found the location fairly convenient, but not walkable to the Smithsonian.

We usually stay at the Embassy Suites in Alexandria and take to Metro into the Mall . . King St. Metro station is across the street

This poster is incapable of reading responses and responding intelligently to them. She already got help on another thread and has not used the information given in any useful way.

OP is by no means a newbie - but doesn't seen to return to posted questions - or provide any info that would be useful.

Not sure of the purpose of asking questions people can't really answer

Just want most central location. Wrote twice as I couldn't find my first answers. You all have been helpful. Am looking at embassy suites. Tyson corners??
Thanks everyone.

obxgirl May 2nd, 2014 08:30 PM

Tysons Corner is 15 miles from downtown Washington DC.

NewbE May 2nd, 2014 09:33 PM

Tysons Corner is not the most central location, by a long shot.

I thought the question was pretty simple, myself. Don't even think of staying in Tyson's Corner. It is horrible.

There is an Embassy Suites near the convention center that is very well located. I haven't stayed there, but it looks lovely. The one in Tysons Corner might be less expensive, but the time and money you'll spend getting to and from the city will make it a bad bargain.

I can understand being reluctant to share budget details, but everyone's notion of what is "reasonable" varies from person to person. Without an idea of how much you are willing to spend, it's impossible to make a recommendation. You could stay at a well-located hostel, or at a well-located Four Seasons.

Also, some people like old charming properties, some like new, and so on. More details would help, now that you have found this thread again.

Try this one. It's in a very nice location. It's a couple blocks from the closest Metro station but you will mostly likely find yourself doing a lot of walking while visiting DC.

Or Avenue Suites, the river inn's sister-hotel.

kansasmom May 3rd, 2014 12:33 PM

We stayed at the Embassy Suites by the convention center several years ago and found it to be very nice and conveniently located for walking to many sites. We liked it enough that we are staying there again when we return to DC next month.
