? re theatre tickets I want..
Will be in NY Nov. 9-14. Want to see August Osage County. Broadway Box only has front mezzanine. Decided I wanted much better tickets as we both have problems seeing and hearing.
Looking at the seating chart doesn't help me. It's at the Music Box theater. Can anyone give me some hints as to what rows or seats to look at?..would going to the theatre help?..not wiling to stand in line at TKTS booth. I do appreciate your help |
Maybe try calling? That might work.

Take the front mezzanine seats and get the earphones at the theater. Location-wise, you probably won't do any better! Since the set is very complex and large (the interior of the three-story home), you really don't want to sit too close to the stage.

Hmm...interesting answer. I will go back on Broadway Box tomorrow and see the exact location..thanks

For what it's worth, I generally prefer the front mezzanine seats for plays like August Osage County that take place at different levels of the stage. I sat in that section (slightly to the left) and found the sight lines excellent. Sound is never a problem since the actors are miked, but the headphones will help you a lot if you have problems hearing.

we had seats fairly close to the stage on the right side (maybe 10 rows back). The problem with these was that they were on the far side of the stage from where the dinner table was set up. When the cast is sitting at the dinner table, half of them with their backs to us, they were quite hard to hear. (and much of the middle act takes place at the dinner table). I would want to be more to the middle, and I suspect being up a little higher wouldn't have hurt. I would take those front mezzanine, before I would take far-side orchestra.

Wow. If you mean front row mezzanine, I'd grab those in a heart beat -- quite close, nothing to block your view, and great for sound. That's where I saw August/Osage County from and wouldn't have changed those seats for ANY in the orchestra where I'd have to bob my head back and forth to see around the person in front of me.
Also, you know you can call Telecharge and still use the code from Broadway Box. Print out the seating chart first so you can really know what you are talking about with the usually very helpful phone person. Here's the seating chart: http://tinyurl.com/6ypesp |
I just checked Nov. 11 and found Mezz. Row A, seats 3 and 5 available for the discount. No reason to even worry about them being a side section, as they are close to the center and have great full views. I'd grab those if you can.
