Re-Post - Casual Brunch in SACRAMENTO - Downtown - Need Ideas

Sorry - Thought I better put Sacramento in the title

I am driving SF to Tahoe and will be meeting up with friends in Sacramento for the weekend heading out to airport for 2ish flight.

We want to meet for brunch/lunch

I'll have three kids -8,5,2
They are vegetarian

Would love something casual and healthy (ish) maybe close to a park where we could run around with the kids afterward or before.

Don't want some hours long wait.

Sitting outside or leafy view would be nice.

I used to live in Sacramento but can't seem to think of anything. In fact I got married in the Rose Garden at Capitol park and might show the kids that if it is still ok to walk around there. I don't mind a short drive after brunch to Capital park either.

Thanks for Ideas

ps- This is for July

Crepeville is at the corner of L & 18th. They will have plenty of choices for the kids.

I checked trip advisor: reviews said it gets backed up on Sunday morning.

ANdy Nguyen's on Broadway is convenient off 50 after you cross over I 5. Has lots of vegetarian choices. After that you can head out to McKinely Park and your kids can enjoy a walk in the rose garden, feeding the ducks at the pond and playing on the large castle-like play structure.

I personally wouldn't go to McKinley Park. The rose garden is in terrible shape and they are debating how to tear it out and replace the plantings. Capitol Park would be better IMO - yes you can walk through the park plus walk inside the Capitol bldg. which lots of kid enjoy.

Andy Nguyen's would certainly be good for the vegetarians - as long as the folks are up for Vietnamese food.

I'm not clear what day this is Sat or Sun? - Sunday brunches at places that specialize in brunch tend to get really busy. As MichelleY says, if you are early - Crepeville would be good. There are some good Chinese and Mexican places downtown and in mid town which would have dishes for carnivores and vegetarians - do either of those appeal?

Hey janis post some of your recommendations so I can say what's wrong with them.

Huh - I agreed w/ you that Andy Nguyen's would be a good place for their group . . .

My comment was strictly about McKinley park. The city is not maintaining the rose garden and it is a mess. They are going to rip most of it out and start over.

But McKinely park isn't just the rose garden. I think the kids really would like to see the pond and play at the very nice playground. Run off a bit of energy before their flight.

THanks so much
They eat eggs and all that so really probably easy enough to find something.
It will be Sunday
It will be 10:30 ish - driving from SF so I doubt we can hit any restaurant too early.

I had thought of Tower Cafe.

Any thoughts on what would be right around capital park to make it possible to just walk over? In burning heat I know.

Thanks so much

Crepeville is only 2 blocks to the Capitol Rose Garden. The Hyatt has several options for dining. It is across the street from the park.
