I would like suggestions for accommodations for 4 women (65-70) for 2 nights at Mt. Rainier. We will be traveling from the East coast and this is our first adventure to the PNW.
Our travel plans include 4 nights Portland (City, Gorge & Vineyards), 3 nights Cannon Beach, 1 night (rt flight from Portland) . After leaving the coast I thought we would travel to Mt. Rainier and Mt St. Helen's on our return to Portland. Our interest will be hiking (moderate), photography and enjoying the wine & food of the PNW. Thank you for help.

If Paradise is booked, try the National Park Inn at Longmire. It is worth it to stay in the park, if it is possible. Sounds like you have a great trip planned!

I have stayed at the National Park Inn and really enjoyed it - unfortunately Paradise gets booked up quickly

My favorite place in the area is Wellspring, a collection of cabins that was originally a spa for hikers.

We love Alta Crystal Resort! It is on the Sunrise side of Mt. Rainier, but it's easy to make a day trip to Paradise. Sunrise is 1000 feet higher than Paradise, with the most panoramic views and hikes in the Park.

Stay in the park if you can, though. Sometimes, on weekends, there is a line at the gate for cars waiting to get in. The only places to stay in the park are Paradise Inn and the National Park Lodge at Longmire.

If it is overcast at Paradise, you can drive to Sunrise, where it is often sunny, being on the drier eastern side of the mountain.
