Rare opportunity: 1 way mule ride from base of Grand Canyon ends SOON!

I am trying to find one or more people who would like to share a mule ride UP to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon from Phantom Ranch on October 11, 2012. If you are interested, please contact me quickly. I will need to hear from you by early on October 4, 2012 to add you to the trip. (This is the deadline the mule ride has set for me to find additional riders.)

Most people hike down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and then have to hike back up, or they ride a mule both ways. You could also catch this mule ride after rafting in the Grand Canyon, or camping or spending the night at PHANTOM RANCH. This is a chance to hike down into the canyon-- which is a beautiful and amazing trip--and then let a mule carry you back up, avoiding the hot and difficult hike back up out of the canyon.

If you have camping gear, or a lot to carry, you can even arrange a mule to carry up your things.

I have reserved a one way ride from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the South Rim on October 11, 2012 because I wanted to experience the Grand Canyon while avoiding the hard climb back out. The problem is they require you to pay for 5 mules even if you only have one rider!! I have one other person who may join me on this ride, so there are either 3 or 4 mules available.

The ride leaves from Phantom Ranch at about 7:00 am. The mule drive set these hours to spare the mules - and you!- a good deal of the heat of the day. There may even be room to have breakfast at Phantom Ranch before the ride!

This is a great way to get from the Colorado River to the Rim of the Grand Canyon for someone who doesn't want to do the strenuous hike up out of the canyon or prefers the view from a mule.

If you are interested, please contact me quickly. ! I will need to hear from you by early on October 4, 2012 to add you to the trip. (This is the deadline the mule ride has set for me to find additional riders.)

If you have other suggestions on how to connect with people who may want to share this service, I'd appreciate those as well.

Thanks,

Carolyn
