The worst was the time I had a long haul round trip. Of course, on the eastward (redeye) leg they show the movie I really wanted to see, but ended up sleeping thorugh (a waste since the long haul redeye flight eastward is usually a heavy drinking/try to pass out routine)... Then having to suffer through Zoolander on the westward leg (when you CAN'T sleep because your body isn't as tired as the time of day/sun position you are flying into!)

Agree with original poster. Ted made a very telling comment. I would guess Ted, if that is in fact your real name, probably only reads a book when he is on a plane. Gee Ted, how snobby are you?

Yes, the chick flicks do suck. Every time I get on a plane and the flight attendants go through their schpiel and then say "and after drinks, we will begin our movie selection today which is..." I cringe with fear. And the worst thing is that you can't get away from it! Even if you try to do something else, you can still hear the movie soundtrack indirectly through the headphones of all of the movie viewers around you, and can't help but occasionally look up at the screen where it is being displayed. Even worse than that is the post-movie pseudo news shows the airlines produce. Crap. Why don't they play something more tasteful, perhaps "Alive" or maybe an old favorite of mine, "Airport '79". Great flick.

I almost never watch the inflight movies -- actually I can't remember the last time I had one, because so few domestic flights have them any more. I don't like the crappy headphones, mostly.

I remember once when flying round-trip between the US and London, USAir had to put me on another airline in one direction and the result was that I got "My Left Foot" both going AND coming. Not movie that's very conducive to semi-conscious airline viewing to begin with.

I'm with the others who would rather read a book.

I bet that new Hooters/Vanguard airline would show some quality stuff.

Bryan,

The best thing for you to do is to fly Jet Blue. Each seat has it's own TV screen and there are several channels that you can watch.

Have a good flight.

How about the CBS junk that AA has on the 737s? It's stuff I don't watch at home, and certainly don't watch on the airplane. Real JUNK!

I'm revisiting my book reading days. That is FUN!!!!

Dick

I'll take Ya-Ya Sisterhood ANYDAY over anything will Adam Sandler, anything with Arnold Schwarzenegger, anything that has to have car chases and explosions to keep the action moving, anything with Julia Roberts (chick-flick or no, she's only on-screen to be ogled and she can't act, sorry), anything that solves the plot's problem with gunshots, anything that involves massive numbers of men in medieval dress marching over a hill to do battle with more massive numbers of men in medieval dress, or Zoolander.

That said, I think the days of the in-flight movie are numbered except on overseas flights.

(At least that'll settle the question that refuses to die on the "Airlines" forum about whether shades should be up or down, whether we are flying in a winged theater or a mode of transportation.)

The best double feature that I ever had on a plane was going to Europe --
Thelma and Louise and Ghost,

and coming home
Green Card and Misery!!!
4 winners
