Ranch and Riding in Midwest

We're heading out to Madison, Wisconsin, for a family reunion in early July, and before that we want to take in some riding in some beautiful corner of the midwest -- perhaps in Northern Michigan or Wisconsin. I'd love suggestions for beautiful spots in those states, especially if we can ride. Are there guest ranches in these states? thanks

Check out www.ranchweb.com. It has a large listing of ranches in the US.

The Kettle Moraine State Forest is about an hour from Madison. It is beautiful, with lots of rolling hills. See

The Northern section definitely has horse trails, but I don't know where to get the horses. Guest ranches are not common like they are in the western states.

Northwestern Illinois is extremely beautiful, and pretty close to Madison. However, I also can't tell you where to find a horse.

Spoke too soon. Try this link to see a list of some state parks with horse trails.
