Rainy weather in a walking town?

So I hear it's supposed to rain the whole week I'll be in San Fran. What are some good indoor activities besides SFMOMA? Thanks,
Lisa

Try the Alcatraz tour, you'll want to book in advance, it fills quickly. The ferry over has indoor seats too. Just wear a rain poncho!

BayArea.com or SFGate will give you a list of activities on the day of your visit - museums, art galleries, restauarants, shopping malls, movies.

Thanks for the info. I just can't decide whether a leather coat is too heavy.....my only raincoat is a very light nothing of a jacket. What do you think? Better safe than sorry.

Most of the museums don't have a coat check. Maybe a warm sweater and a light raincoat?

It very rarely rains every day all day in San Francisco. So even if rain is forecasted for a week, it will mostly be mixed weather with only some rain.

Other indoor activities

- New Asian Art Museum. It's very nice though a little overwhelming. Their cafe has very reasonable food that was healthy and filling.

- Shopping in San Francisco Center - Mostly it's just a mall like any other anywhere in America, but it has cool escalators.

- Ride the cable car up California street to Nob Hill. Have a few drinks in the top of the Mark, then cross the street & go up a block and wobble through the labrynth in Grace Cathedral.

I'd bring a rain coat and a sweater or a sweatshirt rather than a coat. Layers are the key anywhere along the CA coast.

Re: Weather in SF. Today was supposed to be partly cloudy, but it has been sunny all day so far. This late in our rainey season, it is highly unsual (however not impossible) for the rain to continue non stop all day as it often does during the winter months. It it therefor probable when rain is predicted that it will shower, maybe heavily at times, on and off. Today I'm wearing sunglasses but carrying an umbrella!!!

SAB, and as you are not a tourist I assume you're not wearing shorts?

(sorry couldn't resist :)

Definately layers. I heard someone complaining about SF and having to dress and undress all the time. In Oregon we have to do it too so it never occurred to me that other people would hate it so much!
