Rainy Day Activities in Charleston

We are 3 grown daughters and our mother who are leaving Sunday for Charleston for a 3 days "girls" vacation.
Looks like Sunday and Monday will be rainy if the weather forecasters are correct.
Any ideas for rainy day activities would be appreciated!

I understand the Aquarium is wonderful, even for adults. You can still go shopping down Church Street and a mini-bus tour of the city. These tours are located behind the visitors center and are wonderful.
You can also tour several of the historic homes.

It's beautiful right now. You'll probably only see scattered thunderstorms at night or early in the morning.

There's two seasons in the Lowcountry- raining and rain possible. Walking around downtown in the rain is not that bad....

I'd recommend the Aquarium, it'll take about 2-3 hours to see. The Straw Market is a covered, open air market that displays alot of local crafts, foods, seagrass baskets, and of course, t-shirts!

King Street has all the national chains, some upscale (Saks), plus the end towards Broad Street has some great, unique antique shops. The Charleston Place shops are all indoors, too.

The ultimate "southern men's shop" is M. Dumas on King St- if you have men to shop for!

Lunch at Bocci's (Church St- italian) or at Magnolia's (Bay St- southern eclectic) OR at AW Shucks (close to the straw market) if you want seafood. My husband (a Citadel grad) and I always have happy hour at the Southend Brewery (Bay St).

Enjoy your stay and tell us how it was when you return!

We just returned from a somewhat rainy, chilly trip to charleston but still had a great time. I posted a brief trip report and will bring it 'to the top' for you. Regardless of weather, charleston is an amazing town and you will still have a wonderful time.
