How is the best way to see the Rainbow Natural Bridge on Lake Powell from Utah? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Myra

Go in by boat or houseboat.

Thanks but where do you get the boat?

You can rent at Lake Powell.

http://www.lakepowell.com/

Houseboat will be to slow and you have to rent them for a minimum of three days.

I would suggest taking one of the "all day" or "half day" boat tours or if you are familar with boating you can rent a boat.

Here's a good link for more information and reservations. Scroll down to tours or boat rentals

http://www.lakepowell.com/?source=overture

Utahtea

Depends what you mean by "best."

Years ago I was with a group that backpacked around Navajo Mountain, which included Rainbow Bridge. There is a reason why this is a sacred place. The closest thing to paradise I've ever been to (streams every few miles, some with pools; deep canyons; lush vegetation for the desert).

I didn't organize the trip (it was part of UC Extension), but from what I understand you need a permit from the Navajo Nation to hike and camp in the area. Most likely there are other organized camping expeditions to the area if you're interested.
Here is a not regarding the Bridge:

Due to lake level, we are no longer able to see Rainbow Bridge from the Tour Boats. 3/4 of a mile walk is involved each way. We suggest you wear tennis shoes or hiking shoes to walk to Rainbow Bridge.

This is where I found it:

http://www.lakepowell.com/information/tourSchedule.html

What's happening? Is the lake drying out????

Oopss I meant " a note" sorry, some I'll learn to read my typing BEFORE posting :)

Grrrr.... it was supposed to be "some day" today is just not my day :)

Here is a good story about the drought that is causing the low levels of Lake Powell. It says if the drought goes for 4 more years there won't be a Lake Powell left!

http://www.sltrib.com/2003/Feb/02272003/utah/33417.asp

Utahtea
