Through the miracle of cyberspace, I can find out that rain is forecast for two of the three days I am going to be in LV for my first time. Can anyone tell me what rain is like in LV? What I mean is, when it says showers, does it mean a brief rain shower and that's it for the day or can I expect to be running for cover the whole time?

Although rain in Vegas is uncommon, we hit rain last year for the better part of the week. It rained on and off, but at one point it was so heavy, it flooded out the strip in front of the Bellagio causing a massive traffic jam. Bring your umbrella, take taxis and have a great time.

They had some major flooding in 1999, also. That was the first time in 12 visits it had ever rained while we were there.

There is also a very good chance it will not rain at all. The forecasters are rarely correct when they call for rain. And if there is rain it won't last very long. Don't worry. They called for rain last night and right now the sun is shining.

Thanks for the encouragement. I won't worry until I get there. Maybe their forecasters are as good as the ones in DC (not!)
