Rain Forest in Chicago
Every time we go to Chicago or Minneapolis my kids want to eat at Rain Forest Café. I'm seeking a recommendation for a place to eat that the kids will find fun, or something unique that we can't find near home. Kids are 12 and 9. Focus of the trip this time is Shedd Aquarium. Thanks for your help!

When my kids were that age they liked Ed Debevic's. 50's style diner with singing, dancing, sarcastic wait staff. There's one in the city on Wells St.

At that age, they'd probably like Ed Debevic's. It's a 50s-style diner where the gimick is that they're rude to you. Check the site at www.eddebevics.com. There's always deep dish pizza and you can try Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, Uno or Gino's East.
You can search for other restaurants at www.chicagomag.com or www.chicagoreader.com by cuisine, price or location. |
My kids loved Cafe Baba ReBa on Halstead, tapas and fun.

Ed's is fun but the food is horrible. Rain Forest and Grand Luxe Cafe have better food but are chains. R.J. Grunts near the zoo is kid friendly.
