rafting the grand canyon

I'm hoping to take a raft trip in the Grand Canyon in October--any outfitters to recommend?

Wondering the same thing. Also, what are the age/height requirements for children? Hope you don't mind my tagging-a-long on your post.

We went down the canyon twice; once with Arizona River Runners and once with Hatch. Excellent. They don't go down past mid-September.

Been down the Grand Canyon a few times....I would suggest you call Western River Expeditions in Salt Lake City.

I was wondering if anyone had ever hiked down to Phantom Ranch and rafted out? If so how was it and with which outfitter?
Thanks...Barb

The first thing you need to know about rafting in the Grand Canyon is that all outifitters that go through the National Park lands are fully booked about a year in advance. So don't count on going till about October of 2002.

A good place to start to gather information would be

http://www.thecanyon.com/river.htm
