Radisson Key west & restaurant for anniversary dinner

My husband and I are going down to Naples at the end of this month to visit my parents. We will be also drive down from their place to Key West for 2 nights/3 days (the 27th to the 29th). Is the Radisson a decent place to stay? We are not looking for luxurious, just clean, nice, comfortable.
We would like to go some place nice for dinner on the 27th which is our 18th anniversary. Not dressy but some place that would be nice for an anniversary. We have heard about Mango's. Any opinions on it, or any other suggestions. We are more into the seafood and/or steak type of place. I like to try things that are a little different and my husband is a little more on the basic side. Thanks.

The Radisson is on Roosevelt Road, which is on the outskirts of Key West and is filled with fast food joints and strip malls. If you stay in Old Town, you'll be within walking distance of sunset celebrations, restaurants and tourist activities. The Radisson isn't within walking distance of anyplace you'll want to visit.

You don't need to worry about restaurants in Key West being dressy...shorts are welcome in all places, including the most expensive. Prices vary a lot in restaurants...I've eaten lunch quite a few times at Mango's but haven't eaten dinner there. It's in a great location, but I'm not sure I'd choose it for a special evening. Have you thought about Alice's? It's just up Duval but in my opinion the food is much better.

I agree that you should definitely stay closer to Mallory Square if possible. If you don't, you will constantly be having to get shuttles, taxis, mopeds, to get back and forth. We had dinner at Mango's and it was very good. It is also a great spot to people watch! Another suggestion would be Michaels. If you go,be sure to get the chocolate thunder for dessert! Have fun.

SusanCS always gives great advice on Key West. I agree that you would probably be happier if you stayed closer to Mallory Square, Duval Street and the Seaport. We were there during this past spring and I found the following websites very helpful:

KEY WEST INN KEEPERS WEBSITE:

KEY WEST BED & BREAKFASTS (with pictures next to info):

B&B's we looked at that I would consider for a future visit were:

AMBROSIA HOUSE

ISLAND CITY HOUSE HOTEL

We stayed at Eaton Lodge and didn't care for it. My niece has friends who always stay at Curry House(or Curry Mansion, I'm not sure of the exact name.)

I think there is a fast catamaran or something like similar that can take you from Ft. Myers to Key West. That would be nicer than driving, and probably faster. If I find the info on it, I'll post it for you. Naples isn't far from Ft. Myers.

We ate at Alice's and loved the food. Their piano bar is very quaint with nice music. It's a gay bar, but everyone is so nice. My niece and I loved it (and we are straight.) It's truly a class-act, and the owner, Mark, is very sweet and accommodating. The show upstairs is usually great and a very reasonable price. We saw the show and then had dinner. It would make for a very nice anniversary evening.

Have eaten in both Mangos and Alice's and they were fine however would choose Blue Heaven over either of those two. Stay in the Old Town if you can.

If you are only going to be in Key West for 2 nights/3 days, I would also definitely recommend staying in Old Town. It may be a little bit more expensive, but it will be worth it.
