Hello, <BR> I would very much appreciate your comments on this hotel regarding these points: <BR> Room space and cleanliness. <BR> Location <BR> a)is it a safe place to walk at night? <BR> b)Any subway station nearby to get to Soho,Tribeca,Chinatown,Little Italy and which lines for each destination?Do the stations have lifts? <BR> c)Same with Guggenheim Museum uptown and Metropolitan Museum,can I take the subway? <BR> On the other hand if I choose to go by taxi how much would it cost me to get to Chinatown or the Guggenheim?Just to have an idea.I'm travelling with my husband and he cannot climb stairs due to a severe illness and I'll have to consider his condition and try to do everything we want to the easiest way for him.Walking does not pose any problems,however. <BR> Thank you

Hi Barbara. <BR> <BR>I work a few blocks north of the Radisson Eastside. First off, YES, it is a safe place to walk at night. The #6 train is located at Lexington Ave. & 51st St. The E & F trains are located at the Citicorp building at 53rd Street and Lexington Ave. I'll let you know tomorrow if theses stations have elevators. I always take the stairs. Cabs are plentiful, and not all that expensive, at most $10 for a ride to either Chinatown or the Guggenheim. <BR> <BR>Let me know if you have any other questions. <BR> <BR>Welcome to New York. :-) <BR> <BR>Ross.

I am also going to New York for the 1st time at the end of August for the U.S. Open. I have made a reservation at Radisson East Side. Could you please let us know what you think of this hotel, clean, etc. Also do you know the best way to get to the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows? By Subway? My husband and I enjoy Seafood and Mexican, any suggestions but in a Moderate Price Range. Thank you!

Hotel is at 48th St. and Lexington Ave - area is safe to walk day and night. <BR>Nearest subway station is at 51st and Lexington. #6 local going downtown will take you to SOho, Chinatown and LIttle Italy. For SOHO get off at Spring St. for Little Italy and Chinatown go to the next stop, Canal St. Very few stations have lifts. The #103 bus on Lexington goes through or near Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown. The #6 going uptown will take you within walking distance of both the Met and the Guggenheim. A taxi from the hotel to the Met - about $6. To Chinatown closer to $10. Walk from subway (77th St. station) to Met is around 1/2 a mile. Walk to Guggenheim is around the same distance. Less walking if you take a bus. Walk to Madison (2 blocks west). TAke a #1 2, or 3 bus to 81st for Met, 89th for Guggenheim and walk one block west to 5th Ave. I would probably do the bus.

The #7 train is the best way to get to the U.S. Open. Take the train towards Flushing to the Willets Point/Shea Stadium stop; it is the next to last stop. <BR>The train runs express to Manhattan from 6:00 am. to noon and to Queens from 12:30 to 9:00 p.m. The ride will take just over 20 minutes on the express train. <BR>To get to the subway, walk to Grand Central, which is located at 42nd Street just off Lexington Ave. You can enter the subway directly from Lexington Ave.

Thank you Ross and rqf for your promptness on providing me with the useful information.I'would like to ask you two more questions: <BR>Ross:As your familiar with the neighbourhood would you suggest any kind fo coffee shop or deli to have some breakfast and - just in case - an italian trattoria if for any reason (not likely)we should have dinner in the area. <BR> <BR>rqf:In case we opt for the bus to go uptown,where should we take the bus the way down to Lex,Madison? <BR> I've heard that some buses go up X Ave and down another.Is this the case?
