Radisson Eastide/U.S. Open/Restaurants
My husband and I are very excited to be coming to New York for the first time and attending the U.S. Open! First of all can anyone give me their thoughts on the Radisson Eastside. Regarding the U.S. Open-whats the best way to get there? By Subway? My husband and I love Seafood/Mexican food, any good restaurants with a moderate price tag-under $30 a person. When we go out at night to casual bars, restaurants--Is there any dress codes? Thank you!!

Best way to get to Open is subway. Take the #7 train at GRand Central Station. Trip will take around 30 minutes. Cost is $1.50 a person. No dress code to worry about especially at a casual bar .

I don't know about the Radisson Eastside, but I would go to the U.S. Open via subway - the #7 train (catch at either the 42nd St/Times Square subway stop on the West Side or the Grand Central stop on the East Side) out to the Willets Point/Shea Stadium stop in Flushing, Queens. When you get off there will be signs telling you to go one way to Shea Stadium (where the Mets play) and the other way to the USTA National Tennis Center. Some folks I know take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) out there instead, getting on at Penn Station (34th St on the West Side) and getting off at the same stop, but I tried it once long ago to go to a Mets game and it was more expensive and ran less frequently it seemed. There may be shuttle buses running between the tennis stadium & Manhattan, but that may be just for press or volunteers - maybe the USTA can help you with information about that. A cab would probably cost around $20-30 one way. As for a dress code, there isn't one at most regular restaurants. And I don't know if you would want to come to the Upper West Side, but we have a couple of good, casual Mexican restaurants here - Mama Mexico on Broadway and 102nd St (mariachi band! good seafood!) and Gabriela's on Amsterdam and 93rd and another on Amsterdam and around 75th St. Have fun - and who are you rooting for at the Open?

My husband & I are big tennis fans and going to the US Open is a big thrill for us. Our favorites are Agassi and Capriati! Thanks for all your help!

I love tennis too (great men's Wimbledon final!). Jennifer is having an incredible year, and what a story! Myself, I'd like to see the "young kids" come through at the US Open - Lleyton Hewitt & Andy Roddick, maybe Roger Federer & Juan C. Ferrero - and in the women's I root for Venus & Serena.

Hello Sandy! <BR> At the other "Radisson's post" you asked me if I could give you my opinion about the hotel.I'm afraid by the time I'll be back home you would be already there. However if I find a way I'll post you some comments here.
