Radio shopping in NYC
Any suggestions for buying a radio in New York City. I pass by lots of electronics stores in Manhattan but have not tried any.

What sort of radio Amie? I've heard that the Bose wave radios have great sound. (bose.com) I would avoid any of the electronic stores along Fifth ave. They tend to be tourist traps. If you know exactly what you want J & R Music world is a good place and you can shop them online here

I searched the web and found the Tivoli Audio Clock Radio recommended as less expensive than Bose and similar quality. That is why I was asking about radio shopping....I would like to look at it and listen before buying. Otherwise I would buy online. I cannot find the brand in the usual stores.
Thanks for your reply. |
Arnie,
The J and R music store is supposedly huge. I am not sure exactly where it is in NYC, but I recently did quite a bit of online shopping for a new stereo system and saw great prices on their website. I don't know if they have the one you are looking for, but you can check their website (with a toll free number). It is www.jandr.com. Good luck in your search. |
Thanks a million for the suggestion for J and R.....I went online and it is exactly what I am looking for. Will be in NYC soon and want to stop at the store.

J & R is indeed a great store for electronics, music, home appliances, etc. (it is growing into something of a monster and occupies an entire City block). It is downtown right across from City Hall. To get there, take the 4, 5 or 6 to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall, or the R to City Hall.
