Radio City Christmas Spectacular - best seats?
Where are the best seats for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular? Having never been to the theatre before (live in Australia).... would love some advice. Happy to pay for a great experience.

Row H to K is supposed to be the best area in any theater. The show is BIG - spectacular, even. The theater is huge. No matter where you sit, the show will be fabulous. I've been on the front row before and I loved being that close, but to see all of the formations further back is better.

Thank you!! Very excited :-)

Center front mezzanine. IHMO, closer is not necessarily better.

The area called the "Golden Circle" is absolutely worth the extra cost! RCM is a HUGE barn of a place. I thought...the closer the better when we saw it.

I highly recommend the tour of Radio City. One of the best tours I've been on, especially seeing the amazing, movable stage (that makes the show so effective) and the costumes. You'll meet a Rockette as well. Get to see the private apartment used for hosting VIPs. A really great tour. I've been to the show several times and to NYC many times and had no real interest in the tour. Local friends (who won the tickets at a school fundraiser) gave us the tour tickets and it was one of our favorite things.

if you have to choose between closer and off to the side, I would choose further away but toward center. At one show the seats were too close and too off to the side so we didn't see the special effect of the wisemen and animals arriving at the stable. We could see them coming onto the stage but the special effect is that they look like they are appearing out of thin air.

The theater is HUGE - more than 2K seats - so you don;t want to be in the back or the balcony.
Definitely sit in the center and at least 12 or 14 rows back - but not really far. |
Also consider the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center if you are at all interested in dance. We go every year - and always took out DDs when they were at home. A really great celebration of the holiday.

The seating capacity at RCMH for most events is about 6000, not 2000.
IMO the best seats are the ones you buy on line ahead of time. |
Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll definitely look into the tour as well.
